1ptMilk
1pnSalt
  Sugar
  Vanilla or Lemon essence

Beat the eggs and salt, add pint of milk, then place in a double saucepan, stirring all the time with a wooden spoon. Do not let it boil or it will curdle, take off fire when custard only just begins to thicken a little, add sugar to taste and flavour with vanilla or essence of lemon.
